The message reads, in part:
“It is important that the forum’s organisers set a serious and timely goal to bring together at one venue volunteers, environmental activists, students and NGO representatives – all those who feel personally responsible for preserving our unique natural wealth and who strive to contribute to the development of the Arctic region. I know that you have already done much to eliminate the accumulated environmental damage and have helped bring order to large territories in Karelia, the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, Chukotka, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. You have also drawn new associates into your ranks.
I know that you will use the forum to discuss a broad range of environmental issues, exchange experience and knowledge and map out new plans for the future.
I would like to thank you for your active civic position and a striving to take part in the country’s life with practical deeds.”
