The Institute of the Commissioner for Children's Rights has completed the Russian Nationwide Inspection of the Social Orphanhood Prevention System, which covered all 89 Russian regions, and has already presented its results to Vladimir Putin. The President of Russia supported the proposal of the Commissioner to create the Russian Nationwide Family Assistance Service, which is designed to help families in difficult life situations and social risk. According to her, some regions are already implementing modular resolutions in social orphanhood prevention based on the recommendations of the inspection. The task of the new service is to implement the recommendations everywhere, throughout Russia.
Creation of an interdepartmental working group on preservation of families and prevention of social orphanhood was another important area supported by the President. It will mainly coordinate efforts on improving the social orphanhood prevention system, monitoring implementation of recommendations from the Russian Nationwide Inspection, as well as introduction of new mechanisms for the prevention of social orphanhood.
Maria Lvova-Belova also named the leading regions with biggest social orphanhood in the rating: the list was compiled by specialists of Russian Nationwide Inspection of the Social Orphanhood Prevention System jointly with the Central Economic Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The following regions made the top twenty: Ingushetia, Sevastopol, Dagestan, Khanty Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra, Chechnya, Kalmykia, Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, Chuvashia, Karachay–Cherkessia, the Rostov, Moscow and Belgorod Regions, North Ossetia– Alania, the Stavropol Territory, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Moscow, Kabardino-Balkaria as well as Mordovia.
Additionally, Maria Lvova-Belova summed up the results of the Russian Nationwide Grant Contest, Centers for New Opportunities 2025, organised by the charity foundation, Country for Children, with the assistance of the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, the Tsargrad Charitable Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects, and the Andrei Melnichenko Charitable Foundation.
The contest was held in two directions: crisis family centers and daycare centers for children with disabilities. A total of more than 350 applications were received from 77 Russian regions.
The Commissioner noted that organisations and institutions showed great interest in the contest to expand help to children with disabilities and families in crisis, which is why the competition is being held for the second time.
