The two presidents discussed the Syrian issue, including the positive results of the 6th International Meeting on Syria held in Astana on September 14–15. It was stressed that the establishment of four de-escalation zones in the Syrian Arab Republic has opened a path toward ending the civil war and a political settlement of the crisis based on the principles of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties noted the importance of further close coordination of Russia’s and Turkey’s efforts in matters related to Syria.
A number of topical issues related to further development of bilateral cooperation was also discussed.
It was agreed to continue an in-depth exchange of opinions on the regional and bilateral agenda in the course of the two leaders’ working meeting in Ankara on September 28.
