The presidents exchanged condolences over the August 14, 2021, crash in Turkey of the Russian Defence Ministry’s Be-200ChS aircraft with Russian and Turkish nationals aboard. Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the significant contribution of the Russian pilots to fighting wildfires in Turkey and expressed his sincere gratitude for the assistance being rendered.
The two leaders had an in-depth discussion of the developments in Afghanistan. They stressed the importance of ensuring stability and civil peace in the country and strict observance of law and order. They underscored the priority tasks of fighting terror and drug trade. The presidents agreed to strengthen bilateral coordination on Afghanistan issues.
The discussion also focused on trade and economic cooperation, primarily in energy.
