The conversation, which discussed the latest developments in the civil conflict in Libya, was part of Mr Medvedev’s regular consultations with Mr Zuma, who represents the African Union’s High Level Ad Hoc Committee on Libya.
The two presidents exchanged information on the efforts both sides – Russia and the African Union – have been making to facilitate a political settlement in Libya since the last telephone conversation at the end of May, and shared their plans for further action.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Zuma assessed highly the level of coordination achieved, and promised to continue their close and trusting contacts.
