Mr Medvedev also sent his Algerian colleague a telegram of congratulations, in which he said, in particular:
“The Algerian people rightfully associate your name with successful social and economic transformation, strengthened sovereignty, and your country’s growing influence on the international stage.
I highly value the contribution you have made to the development of mutually advantageous strategic partnership between Russia and Algeria, which we are enriching every year with new initiatives and big joint projects.
The intensive political dialogue our countries are engaged in at all levels plays a big part in developing this partnership. I have fond recollections of the talks we had in hospitable Algeria in October 2010, which gave a real boost to our efforts to expand our trade and economic cooperation and our ties in the oil and gas, military-technical, humanitarian and other sectors.
I hope that consistent implementation of the agreements we have reached will enable us to continue building up our multifaceted ties in the interests of our countries and ensuring regional and global stability and security.
Mr President, accept my best wishes for good health and continued success in your work for the good of the friendly Algerian people.”
