Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service and Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergei Naryshkin made a welcome address.
Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov reported on the development of methods for teaching history and social studies as part of the Education Development Strategy for the period until 2036.

The meeting participants discussed the coordination of efforts to promote reliable and scientifically substantiated historical knowledge throughout the post-Soviet space. Reports on this issue were delivered by Academic Director of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and full member of the Academy Alexander Chubaryan, and Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alikber Alikberov.
Taking part in debates on promoting cooperation in historical policy with CIS countries were Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, full member of the Academy and Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Makarov, President of the Russian Academy of Education and full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Olga Vasilyeva, and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin. They pointed out that cooperation with CIS countries should include the protection of historical truth and the preservation of the memory of our common history, including in educational materials.
Merited Worker of Arts Yelena Chavchavadze, speaking on behalf of a group of historians, briefed the participants on new information about the role of Admiral Alexander Kolchak in Russia’s history.
Following the meeting, it was decided to set up working groups at the commission to coordinate efforts in the sphere of historical policy in the post-Soviet space. The National Centre of Historical Memory together with the Ministry of Culture and the Russian Military Historical Society were recommended to keep a registry of cultural heritage sites in the territory of the Russian Federation that have been damaged through the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces and to post this information on МестоПамяти.рф.
In addition, the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Military Historical Society were instructed to work jointly with the historical community to set up a working group that would analyse the new data about the role of Admiral Alexander Kolchak in Russia’s history.
