Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin briefed the President on the main areas of the city’s healthcare system development, including the introduction of digital technologies and AI. Director of the Centre for Diagnostics and Telemedicine Technologies Yury Vasilyev described the work of a unique reference centre created for remote centralised X-ray interpretation and control at the city’s 90 clinics.
The President spoke with clinicians in the X-ray room. They discussed how automated AI systems are increasingly being used to detect pathologies. At the end of his guided tour, Vladimir Putin visited a contact centre for X-ray laboratory assistants.
The Moscow Radiology Reference Centre is the first Russian telemedicine radiology centre and one of the largest in the world. It is part of the Diagnostics and Telemedicine Centre of the Moscow City Healthcare Department. The centre employs about 400 radiologists processing about 130,000 X-rays per week. A similar centralised system has been functioning in the capital since 2020 and has made it possible to interpret X-rays 16 times faster.
