The meeting was attended by members of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, representatives of federal executive bodies and civil society organisations.
In his opening remarks, Alexei Dyumin noted that efforts to improve the existing legal framework could offer an effective path towards delivering on an essential task of providing for the rehabilitation, social integration and realisation of personal potential in profession of special military operation participants. Exercising and sports must become an integral part of this effort, the Presidential Aide stressed, recommending the Ministry of Sport to work together with the State Council Commission for Physical Fitness and Sport on this matter and present specific proposals.
In addition, Alexei Dyumin talked about the importance of carrying out Presidential instructions to promote sports among children and youth and offer them more opportunities in this area, including by enabling them to exercise and practice sport free of charge. This effort must focus on children from low-income families, as well as families of special military operation participants.
Reports were delivered by Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev and Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexei Teksler.
The working group on preparing a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport is expected to submit the final draft of its report to the Presidential Executive Office until the end of August 2024.
