Anna Kuznetsova visited Ryazan Region

Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Anna Kuznetsova took part in a national meeting with heads of regional executive bodies in the sphere of education.

The meeting focused on topical issues of education quality assessment and improvement of oversight in education. The two-day forum attracted leading education experts, heads of competent federal and regional ministries and agencies from across Russia.

Greeting the meeting participants, Anna Kuznetsova Kuznetsova Anna Kuznetsova Anna stressed the importance of quickly identifying problems in educational institutions. In order to increase the efficiency of control and oversight in education, the children’s rights commissioner proposed the agencies to cooperate and work together to analyse violations, exchange data and organise joint inspections.

Anna Kuznetsova noted that instilling moral values in children is an essential and integral component of education. She also pointed out the relevance of counselling in educational institutions and the shortage of counsellors for successful assistance to students and teachers.

The children’s rights commissioner stressed the important role of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare in overseeing the wardship and guardianship authority.

Another important aspect of work, according to the commissioner, is assessment of potential adoptive parents who undergo adoption training, efficient support of adoptive families and professional training of guardianship authority workers.

The commissioner also received members of the public with questions regarding the protection of minors’ rights. Regional and federal children’s rights commissioners were instructed to follow up on all the inquiries and requests.

Additionally, during her trip to the Ryazan Region, Anna Kuznetsova visited the Vera boarding school to review the region’s best practices in inclusive education. A round table meeting took place at the school on education, upbringing and integration of children with multiple development disorders.

The Vera boarding schools has unique experience of working with children who suffer from grave and multiple development disorders. The education process there is based on the specific needs of students with disabilities.
