The discussion focused on the implementation of measures to improve the socioeconomic conditions for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and on informing participants in the special military operation about the available support measures and mechanisms for receiving them.

“The President has declared 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. The top issue on our agenda today is support for veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who did not spare themselves to bring about Victory 80 years ago, defending our country, their families and homes. We are responsible for preserving historical memory and the truth for the rising generations,” Tatyana Golikova pointed out.

In accordance with the Presidential Executive Order, all those who fought for the Motherland will receive a one-time payment as part of the Victory Day celebrations. Over 23 billion rubles earmarked for this purpose will be paid out to nearly 332,000 veterans.

The President has instructed federal and regional authorities to help the veterans settle any social protection problems they may encounter. One of the priorities is the provision of medical assistance, medicines and outpatient medical services to veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Great attention is being paid to those who are protecting our country in the special military operation. In particular, a new section has been added to the programme of state guarantees of free medical assistance, on the procedure for providing medical assistance to combat veterans. Starting in January 2025, participants in the special military operation can receive medical rehabilitation and health resort treatment at the Social Fund’s 12 rehabilitation centres.

Some tasks are the responsibility of regional employment services. The necessary efforts have been taken to organise the monitoring of requests submitted to employment services by participants in the special military operation and their family members. It has shown that over 18,500 participants in the special military operation and their family members have filed employment requests, receiving over 58,000 services. Training has been organised for the special military operation participants, while under the Personnel national project, part of the employers’ spending on equipping workplaces for people with disabilities will be reimbursed.

The Government has issued instructions on informing participants in the special military operation about the support measures available to them and the mechanism of receiving such support in taxation, education, housing, medicine, rehabilitation, prosthetic care and other spheres. As per the President’s instructions, a special section including this information has been created at the Public Services Portal.

In conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova issued instructions for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Social Fund, the supreme regional executive authorities, the Ministry of Healthcare, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, and the Defenders of the Fatherland State Foundation.

The next meeting of the Commission will focus on the employment of participants in the special military operation.
