The report presents the work to fulfil the Law on Rehabilitation during the indicated period, carried out by government authorities, commissions on restoring the rights of individuals rehabilitated in Russian regions, and public organisations.

Particular attention is given to examining issues concerning progress in rehabilitating citizens residing on the territory of new federal constituent entities: the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol. The report also indicates that in the period since the entry into force of the Law (since 1992), over 3.7 million individuals have been rehabilitated as a result of its execution.

Following the discussion, which included several comments and suggestions, a decision was made to approve the report, taking into account the proposals received.

Following the initiative of Commission member and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea Ruslan Balbek, the meeting addressed issues of the need to resolve certain problems occurring during the process of rehabilitating citizens residing on the Republic of Crimea’s territory, particularly related to satisfying the requests of citizens belonging to deported ethnic groups.

The Commission decided to further explore these questions and have a working meeting to address them with members of the Commission, together with invited representatives from relevant departments.

Participants in the meeting viewed the materials in the Political Repressions in the Russian Federation (1917–1991) and Problems in Rehabilitating Victims of Political Repression book exhibition, prepared by staff at the Presidential Executive Office library.
