The message reads, in part:
“The city first appeared in the chronicles in 1469, and for many centuries has been an important economic and cultural centre on the Volga, as well as a large trading port. You are rightfully proud of the glorious pages of its history and many generations of your city’s residents, including famous authors, scientists, military commanders, cosmonauts, actors and athletes.
Today Cheboksary is a large, beautiful and modern city with great industrial, scientific and education potential, a well-developed social and transport infrastructure and a rich cultural and spiritual heritage. It is good that people living here treasure their inter-ethnic accord, multiply the traditions of creative and constructive work and try to make their contribution to the prosperity of their home city, the Chuvash Republic and the whole of Russia.”
