The discussion focussed, in particular, on the development of the agro-industrial complex in the region. According to Mr Potomsky, another record crop is expected this year in the region, similar to the one last year, when they brought in over 3 million tonnes of grain. This year another 35,000 hectares were added to the region’s farmlands. Cattle stock is growing. A full cycle ham production facility will be launched this year at the Znamensky breeding and genetics centre, which will process 40,000 tonnes of meat.
The Governor also spoke of preparations for the 450th anniversary of the city of Orel, to be marked on August 5, 2016.
