The message reads, in part:
“The triumph of the Red Army became an embodiment of the courage, strength of spirit and bravery of our soldiers and officers and the highest professionalism of our military leaders. The very first and unforgettable firework display was set off in Moscow in honor of this unprecedented act of the liberators of Oryol and Belgorod. Battles for Oryol in many ways predetermined the result of the Battle of Kursk and became a vital stage on the way toward the Great Victory.
Today Oryol proudly bears the honorary title of City of Military Glory. Its residents treasure the memory of the heroic past of their homeland and pass on the tradition of unselfish service to the Fatherland from one generation to the next. And of course, on this very special day, I pass on my most sincere words of gratitude to our veterans.”
