Audit of work to fight corruption in Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) state agencies

The Commission of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate, with participation by representatives from relevant agencies, held a planned audit of the work to fight corruption-related offences in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) state agencies.

The audit established that the republic has formed the legal and organisational foundations for countering corruption. In particular, positive experience has been developed in providing state and municipal services through a system of integrated government service centres.

At the same time, the audit revealed shortcomings in the organisation of work to counter corruption. In particular, anti-corruption measures within the republic’s state agencies are typically carried out by individuals who do not have the appropriate skills and qualifications.

A token approach is applied to implementing measures to detect, prevent and resolve conflicts of interests, as well as to ensure that regional government officials abide by other requirements in the anti-corruption legislation.

There are shortcomings in conducting audits on the compliance with anti-corruption prohibitions, restrictions and requirements by officials.

Following the audit, a recommendation was issued to head of the republic Yegor Borisov Borisov Yegor Borisov Yegor to implement a set of measures to eliminate the limitations that were found.
