Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Germany's President Christian Wulff and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel on the Day of German Unity.
The message reads, in part:
“I am pleased to see that the strategic partnership between our countries is showing confident and steady development in all areas. We are successfully carrying out big joint projects in important sectors such as energy, the automotive industry, and transport machine-building. We work together effectively on the international stage, including in the UN, G8, and G20.
The latest round of top-level Russian-German interstate consultations in Hannover in July 2011 offered new opportunities for building up our mutually advantageous ties in all different fields of cooperation. The events organised as part of the Russian-German Year of Education, Science and Innovation have been particularly fruitful in their results. The initiatives we pursue within the Year of Russia in Germany and Year of Germany in Russia in 2012–2013 will also be very important.
I see it as a priority to deepen our constructive and trusting dialogue. In this respect, I hope to continue our substantial and productive talks during my upcoming visit to Germany. I am sure that through our joint efforts we can continue to develop our strategic partnership even further.”
