The amendments introduced by the new law concern land used for defence and security purposes.
Under the Land Code’s current provisions, land used for such purposes can be defined as a prohibited zone only.
Under the new provisions, the state authorities can set prohibited and other zones with particular land-use conditions in the interests of ensuring national defence and security and unbroken operation of national defence and security installations.
The new law makes the Russian Federation Government responsible for setting the procedures for establishing these zones and the conditions for use of the land that falls within their boundaries.
