In his speech at the ceremony, Mr Ivanov said that this big project represents a big advance for all of Europe and is an example of well-organised and trusting cooperation that shows that a pragmatic approach, mutual trust and consideration of each other’s interests, and combined effort and resources make it possible to carry out even the most complex international projects.
Mr Ivanov said that the project changes the entire continent’s energy configuration. Nord Stream is a strategic project that will promote development and economic growth and create new jobs in Russia and Europe, Mr Ivanov said.
President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and French President Francois Hollande made video addresses at the pipeline’s inauguration ceremony.
