The federal law establishes a National Radiation and Epidemiological Registry – a government information system containing personal data of citizens exposed to radiation as a result of the Chernobyl catastrophe and other radioactive accidents, nuclear experiments and other radioactive catastrophes and incidents. The registry is being created with the goal of taking into account the changes in health of such citizens over the course of their lives to provide them with targeted medical assistance, and to evaluate medical radiological consequences, including long-term ones.
The federal law makes corresponding amendments to certain legislative acts.
