Presidential Aide Tatyana Golikova held a meeting of the Presidential Commission for Veteran Affairs.
The Commission members discussed the Easy Internet integrated programme for teaching senior citizens how to use computers and the Internet. The programme was implemented by Nizhny Novgorod regional authorities in collaboration with Google Russia. The presentation of the programme took place in December of 2012 in Nizhny Novgorod.
“This is a very relevant issue; it has been discussed many times at various platforms, and many regions have achieved results in this area,” Tatyana Golikova remarked.
The Presidential Aide announced that based on the initial results of the programme’s implementation, it was decided that the Commission for Veteran Affairs would discuss at its meeting opportunities for spreading this positive experience to other regions.
“This is imperative, first and foremost, in order to create comfortable conditions and easier access to government and other services for our senior citizens,” Ms Golikova said.
Members of the Commission approved the proposal to organise an annual national Easy Internet contest to promote the best computer and Internet literacy programmes for senior citizens, teachers and students.
