Participants in the meeting will include Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Special Presidential Representative for Cooperation with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum Viktor Zubkov, and a number of federal ministers, regional governors, and representatives of some Russian companies. The meeting will examine expanding use of gas as an engine fuel in Russia and decide the steps required to develop gas-powered road transport in the country.
The discussion will put particular emphasis on developing gas as a fuel for public transport in big cities, which will help to improve their environmental situation.
Natural gas is the most universal and affordable fuel capable of replacing petroleum products. It has a number of advantages over oil and oil products. Promoting the use of gas as an engine fuel is one of Russia’s biggest transport development priorities.
