Russia is interested in maintaining stable oil prices and wants to develop contacts with OPEC, Mr Medvedev said at the meeting. He said that cooperation with OPEC is a priority for Russia’s energy agencies in their work to draw up and coordinate energy policy.
The Russian delegation at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov, and Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Economic Cooperation Alexander Gorban. The OPEC delegation included Abdullah Al-Shameri, head of the Secretary General’s Office, and Mohammad Alipour-Jeddi, head of the Petroleum Market Analysis Department.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of International Energy Week, currently underway in Moscow.
