The forum participants discussed comprehensive Arctic exploration and development issues. The main theme at this year’s meeting was environmental safety in developing and using the Arctic’s resources.
Also taking part in the forum were President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, President of Iceland Olafur Grimsson, and Russian Defence Minister and President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu.
The International Arctic Forum, The Arctic – A Territory of Dialogue, has been taking place in Russia at Vladimir Putin’s initiative every year since 2010. It is organised by the Russian Geographical Society.
