In his speech, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office called on regional leaders to focus on improving the efficiency of cooperation between federal, regional and local authorities. In particular, Mr Ivanov emphasised developing a system of local self-government as a key aspect of this work. It is necessary that regional officials be held increasingly accountable for their inability to solve the local population’s problems, the Chief of Staff said.
In addition, according to Sergei Ivanov, regional and municipal authorities need to establish a constructive relationship with the economically active population, and create the necessary conditions for implementing citizens’ business and social initiatives. The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office tasked the heads of regions and municipalities with developing their respective territories, strengthening their economic fundamentals, as well as improving the business climate and living standards there.
In conclusion, Mr Ivanov stressed that making government more transparent and more attuned to dialogue with society will help ensure Russia’s stable development.
