During the year, all but four Federation members have reduced their wage arrears to budget-sector workers, Valentina Matviyenko said.
At the meeting, President Putin and Deputy Prime Minister Matviyenko also discussed the problem of homeless children. She informed the President that during the first nine months of the year, 600,000 homeless children had been registered, three times more than in 2001. At the same time, the number of orphanages for homeless children is also increasing. In Moscow, their number has recently grown from 300 to 2,000.
A special data bank on the disprivileged children has been created, Matviyenko said.
