The President said that the French writer’s works were well known in Russia and thousands, maybe millions, of Russians became familiar with life in medieval France through his books.
Mr Putin underlined the importance of a stronger Russian-French cooperation in culture and literature, especially now that the world is facing the threats and challenges of a new civilisation.
President Putin invited Maurice Druon for dinner. He presented the writer with a collection of books on Russian folk arts and crafts. In return, Mr Druon gave the Russian President a three-volume autographed edition of his works.
