The federal law “On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Delimitation of the Adjacent Sectors of the Caspian Sea Bed” was adopted by the State Duma on June 18 and approved by the Federation Council on June 25, 2003.
The Agreement signed in Moscow on September 23, 2002 sets the geographic coordinates of the modified median line delimiting the adjacent sectors of the Caspian Sea bed between Russia and Azerbaijan to enable the sides to exercise their sovereign rights to exploit mineral resources and conduct other economic activities connected with seabed resources.
