The meting discussed the development of the transport system in the north-west and south of Russia.
Mr Vainshtok said the Baltic Pipeline System was developing dynamically. His company had plans to increase the throughput capacity by 12 million metric tons of oil by December, and by the same amount by the spring of 2004 to reach the level of 42 million metric tons.
Moreover, Russia reached the level of environmental safety of pipeline construction which equaled that of its neighbours, including Finland, Mr Vainshtok said.
In southern Russia Transneft increased export volumes in the Novorossiisk and Kholmogory directions.
Mr Putin summarised the report noting that Russia’s transportation capabilities exceeded the volume of oil production.
