President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the families and friends of people who were killed in a Mi-8 crash in Kamchatka

Mr Putin ordered that a government commission be set up to investigate the plane crash and provide assistance to the families of those killed.

Minister for Civil Defence, Emergency Situations and Disaster Relief Sergei Shoigu was appointed chairman of the commission.

The tragedy of August 20 took the lives of 20 people, including Sakhalin Governor Igor Farkhutdinov and senior regional officials who were accompanying him.
