Mr Ivanov spoke about the preparations for a working visit by President Putin to Italy and his trip to New York and Camp David, where Mr Putin would meet with US President George W. Bush.
Mr Ivanov also described Russian diplomatic efforts to settle regional conflicts, above all six-way negotiations in Beijing on the situation in the Korean Peninsula.
Russia’s moves within the Group of Four to promote the so-called “road map” of the Middle East peace process and the ongoing consultations in New York on a greater role for the UN in Iraqi settlement were dealt with.
Mr Ivanov also told the President of preparations for a CIS summit in Yalta on September 19.
