The heads of state discussed practical aspects of preparing for the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, and the summits of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), all of which are to take place in Moscow in early February.
They paid particular attention to the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. Dmitry Medvedev and Alexander Lukashenko spoke in favour of taking the necessary decisions for the early establishment of this force.
The Supreme State Council is composed of the heads of state, heads of government and leaders of the respective chambers of national parliaments.
The Collective Security Treaty Organisation comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The members of EurAsEC are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
