Speaking at a meeting devoted to the guidelines of government policy with regard to the northern territories, the President urged the creation of new models of northern development, improvement of its infrastructure and early adoption of a new law on the use of natural and mineral resources.
Among other issues discussed were the development of new industries in the North, optimisation of the size of the population, the distribution of budgetary money between different levels of government, and the preservation of the culture and identity of northern indigenous peoples.
