The main investment will go towards realising joint projects in energy and the aluminium industry, said President Vladimir Putin at a press conference after the conclusion of high-level Russian-Tajik talks.
During his visit to Tajikistan, Mr. Putin signed an agreement on the completion of the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric station, which will be financed with $560 million from the Russian side.
Furthermore, over the course of five years, a new aluminium factory will be built in the south of Tajikistan, with a cost of around $600 million.
Russia will also take part in reconstructing two departments of a Tajik aluminium factory 60 kilometres west of Dushanbe,
According to Mr. Putin, Russian investment in Tajikistan has become possible owing to many circumstances and is primarily connected to the trust that has become established in bilateral relations.
