Mr Putin was presented with an official proposal on forming the new united region.
Krasnoyarsk Region Governor Alexander Khloponin said at the meeting that the three regions’ officials are certain that uniting their regions into one would be a positive decision.
It is important to first calculate all the economic consequences the step would have in order to take a decision, and to provide a boost to development in the new, merged region.
Mr Putin drew particular attention to the need to take into account the interests of the local people in creating the new region and to give attention to cultural and language issues and support the traditions of the region’s native peoples.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region Alexander Khloponin, Governor of the Taimyr Autonomous Region Oleg Budargin, Governor of the Evenk Autonomous Region Boris Zolotaryov and the Chairmen of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the Taimyr Autonomous Region and the Evenk Autonomous Region legislative assemblies, Alexander Uss, Alexander Gerasimov and Anatoly Amosov.
