The heads of state shared assessments on how preparations are progressing for the G-20 summit that will be taking place in London in April 2009. Both sides felt that it is necessary to prepare and to make concrete decisions at the summit, not only in regard to overcoming the world economic crisis, but also for preventing any future recurrences of similar crises.
The presidents of Russia and France agreed to intensify communication, including within the framework of multilateral consultations. Mr Medvedev informed Mr Sarkozy that Russia’s suggestions regarding issues on the agenda for the London summit will soon be given to the French side. In turn, Mr Sarkozy promised to send the Russian side a corresponding document with his own suggestions.
The presidents also discussed individual bilateral issues, and subsequently, the prospects for communication at the highest level.
