The Russian President, expressing his deep condolences over the unprecedented natural catastrophe, which took the lives of thousands of people and caused serious material damage, told the President of Sri Lanka about plans for further aid from the Russian Federation in addition to the aid already given.
Chandrika Bandaranaike Kamaratunga expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership and people of Russia for the assistance provided since the very first days in overcoming the consequences of the tragedy, and gave thanks in advance for the aid that Russia intends to provide in future.
President Kamaratunga gave the highest assessment of the actions of Russian doctors and rescuers working in the disaster areas.
