The President was shown five trucks of various models, including a special armoured vehicle, an equivalent of the BTR, and also trucks with the wheel arrangement 8x8, which have no equal in cross-country ability.
The President met one road racer from the KamAZ-master team, Firdaus Kabirov. His team won the rally-raid Dakar-2005.
After examining the testing ground, Mr Putin went on a brief car excursion. For some of the excursion, the President personally drove a sports KamAZ.
In a conversation with the road racers, Mr Putin said that he had signed a decree awarding members of the KamAZ-master team, which won the Dakar-2005 Super marathon.
The President also expressed his admiration at the success of Russian road racers, calling their victory outstanding. He thanked the team and the heads of the KamAZ factory, and wished them success in the future.
Mr Putin said that KamAZ is becoming increasingly important, not just for Russian car production, but for the national economy as a whole, and said that the Russian leadership would do everything to support this company.
The President pointed out that the company leadership has always been able to choose correct tactics of development for KamAZ, which is shown in the production sphere, and as an ultimate result in sport.
