The main items on the session’s agenda were the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Eurasian Economic Community and the integration of the Central Asian Cooperation Organisation into the Eurasian Economic Community.
The session resulted in the signature of a number of documents, in particular the protocol on the Republic of Uzbekistan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Community’s founding treaty of October 10, 2000, and the protocol making the relevant amendments to this treaty.
The heads of states held a joint press conference following the council’s session.
Speaking to the press, President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of the agreement on cooperation in organising an integrated currency market, signed by the organisation’s members, and the agreements signed between Gazprom and its partners in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Mr Putin also touched on the issues of the work of non-governmental organisations and relations with foreign partners in connection with the news of British intelligence service activities on Russian territory.
