The message reads, in particular:
“I highly value our countries' friendly relations and long-standing mutual understanding with respect to the wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues in which we cooperate.
I am confident that we will continue our fruitful cooperation in the interests of strengthening and further developing Russian-Italian relations on various levels, deepening the strategic partnership between Russia and the European Union, and ensuring stability and security in Europe and in the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to confirm the invitation that was already made during our telephone conversation, the invitation to take part in the meeting between the heads of G8 member states. This meeting will take place in Russia for the first time; it will take place in St Petersburg from the 15 to 17 July 2006. I expect that the picturesque and isolated surroundings of Russia's 'northern capital' and Strelna – the place where the summit will actually take place – will help create the necessary atmosphere for us to engage in fruitful work.”
