Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) Nikolai Patrushev reported to President Vladimir Putin on the results of the earlier planned operation carried out in Ingushetia.
Mr Patrushev said that the operation was successful because the Russian special services had established operational positions abroad, above all in the countries where arms were collected and then brought into Russia with the purpose of committing terrorist acts.
Mr Patrushev said that the terrorist group in Ingushetia was planning a terrorist attack with the aim of putting pressure on the Russian leadership during the G8 summit.
The President congratulated Mr Patrushev and the special services personnel who prepared and carried out the operation, and instructed him to put their names forward to receive state decorations.
