At the first working meeting of the heads of state and government of G8 member countries. With U.S. President George W. Bush.
The meeting took place behind closed doors. The G8 already has a well-established operating procedure. The heads of state and government meet in a narrow format and only the sherpas, the personal representatives of the G8 leaders, are allowed into the session.
Following the first meeting three documents were adopted: Education for Innovative Societies in the 21<sup>st</sup> century, Global Energy Security, and Fight Against Infectious Diseases.
Before beginning their work the G8 leaders interacted in an informal, friendly setting. The conversation was held in English.
