Mr Putin began the meeting by expressing the hope that the Russian and South African leadership would make every effort to implement the agreements reached during the Russian head of state’s two-day visit to the country. This would have a direct impact on improving life for the peoples of both countries, the President said.
Mr Putin thanked the South African leadership for the warm and hospitable reception and noted the businesslike and constructive spirit of the talks with President of South Africa Thabo Mbeki.
Mrs Mlambo-Ngcuka proposed discussing topical issues related to the scientific and technical partnership between the two countries.
