A number of bilateral documents were signed in the two presidents’ presence. The documents include an intergovernmental agreement on cooperating to establish an entrepreneurial society at the Orenburg gas processing plant.
Other agreements signed between the two countries’ governments refer to constructing joint check points along the Russia-Kazakhstan border and to the border regime applicable to the inhabitants of Russia-Kazakhstan border regions. Modifications and additions were made to the 1997 agreement on cooperation between the two countries’ law-enforcement agencies and in maintaining law and order in the Baikonur complex.
An agreement on establishing a direct international rail connection through the port of Astrakhan, Makhachkala (Russia) and Aktau (Kazakhstan), as well as an Action Programme between Russia’s Vneshekonombank and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan designed to support international cooperation, trade and economic relations between border and neighbouring regions of Russia and Kazakhstan were signed.
Following the ceremony devoted to signing the documents, Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev gave a joint press conference.
Earlier this day Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev had a bilateral meeting and visited an interregional exhibition of the manufacturers of the two countries’ border regions.
