Governor Valentina Matvienko and members of the St Petersburg government accompanied the President of Russia in the exhibition.
The exhibition is being held on the first floor in Smolnyi.
The head of state examined models of the multipurpose Baltic Pearl residential complex that contains more than 1,400,000 square metres of housing, of the new football stadium that seats over 62,000 spectators, and of the Orlovskii tunnel under the Neva River.
Vladimir Putin was also informed about plans to establish a new kind of passenger transport, the above-ground express train, and also about the project to create a tram with rubber tires.
