While opening the meeting, Vladimir Putin noted the intense level of energy cooperation between the two countries. The President emphasised that Slovakia is not only a consumer of Russian gas but also a state through which Russian energy supplies are transported to Europe.
In turn, Ivan Gasparovic noted that Slovakia is ready for investment cooperation with Russia. Along with this he emphasised that he is referring not only to Slovak investments in Russia and Russian investments in Slovakia, but also to joint investments in third countries.
After a one-on-one meeting both countries’ delegations joined the presidents.
Following Russian-Slovak talks, the following documents were signed in the presence of the heads of state: Agreement Between the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Education Ministry of the Republic of Slovakia on Cooperation in the Sphere of Education; Agreement Between the Russian Government and the Government of the Republic of Slovakia on Ensuring Mutual Interests when Using and Distributing Intellectual Property Rights.
