“Your authoritative research institute is well known in our country and abroad,” reads the President's congratulatory message. “For many decades now fundamental theories have been developed, sharp scientific debates have taken place, and breakthrough discoveries have been made at your institute. And you can be justifiably proud of the outstanding members of the institute, who count seven Nobel laureates among them.
It is good to see that today LPI RAS is implementing promising programmes and projects, some of them in close collaboration with leading foreign institutes, while your innovations have been successfully applied in industry, medicine, space exploration and other sectors.
I am confident that you will continue to work and thereby enhance Russia's standing and prestige.”
Winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics Pavel Cherenkov, Igor Tamm, Ilya Frank, Nikolai Basov, Alexander Prokhorov, Vitaly Ginzburg and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize Andrei Sakharov all worked at LPI RAS.
