Vladimir Putin has warmly congratulated Ilham Aliyev on his birthday.
Both sides have expressed their satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation, which largely rests on the constructive dialogue between the two presidents on the basis of mutual understanding and trust.
The conversation took place at Russia’s initiative.
The Russian President has also sent a message of greetings to his Azerbaijani counterpart.
The document reads, in particular:
“You have been firmly and consistently implementing socio-economic reforms in Azerbaijan, and consolidating its foreign policy influence.
“We particularly appreciate your contribution to the development of friendly bilateral relations, which have reached the level of a truly strategic partnership. They are based on an intensive and meaningful political dialogue, fruitful and mutually advantageous economic cooperation, and close humanitarian ties. Your personal support for such a major initiative as the exchange of national years between Russia and Azerbaijan has largely predetermined its success.”
