At a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Education and Science Minister Andrei Fursenko noted that, while developing the nanotechnology programme, special attention was paid to developing fundamental research and a sector of the economy based on nanotechnology.
In light of the development of infrastructure, metrology and new approaches by 2015, the value of products manufactured using nanotechnology is forecasted to amount to about a trillion roubles, the Minister said.
Andrei Fursenko answered Vladimir Putin’s question about the programme’s financing by saying that it is mainly financial resources that have already been allocated to various projects that will be used. It is for that reason that more effective coordination is necessary. Additional investments into infrastructure development, namely by creating an additional capital base, equipping research centres, supporting metrology, and disseminating information, are required.
