The conversation centred on the crisis in Ukraine, which is causing serious concern and worry due to the potential negative consequences it could have for the Ukrainian economy and social sector, and for the ongoing and consistent development of Russian-Ukrainian cooperation.
Mr Putin stressed his sincere desire to see the situation normalise as rapidly as possible and said he was hopeful that all the branches of power in Ukraine would act responsibly in the interests of resolving the crisis exclusively through political and constitutional means and through constructive dialogue.
